Pick on the empty lots

Share

To follow up on “Maybe You Can Fight City Hall,” Feb. 26: My home is one of three choices for eminent domain in the Sylmar area to build the 10th elementary facility there -- the 17th school in the same area.

Developers wildly building up Sylmar have not used their permits to leave room for a school near the new homes and townhomes but are depending on the older neighborhoods to be cleared.

Elementary children will have to walk a huge distance to get to the schools.

Why are the city and developers not planning ahead? There are empty lots all over Sylmar. Why hasn’t the school district bought some of the property that is still empty?
