Thousands Protest Plans for U.N. Peacekeepers
From Times Wire Reports
Tens of thousands of people marched through Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, protesting plans to deploy United Nations peacekeepers in Darfur and demanding the expulsion of the top U.N. and U.S. envoys.
A top government official also warned that violence would only increase if U.N. troops replaced African Union peacekeepers.
Multi-party talks have been held in Brussels, in an effort to spur the faltering Darfur peace negotiations.
