United to Upgrade Its International Seats

UAL Corp.’s United Airlines said it would spend $165 million upgrading first- and business-class seats on international flights to attract more customers willing to pay for premium service.

The seats will be designed and made by B/E Aerospace Inc. and will be installed in phases beginning in 2007, Elk Grove, Ill.-based United said.

* Northwest Airlines Corp. is testing a $15 fee for customers who want to reserve aisle and exit-row seats on U.S. flights as the company tries to increase revenue.
