Talking to Iran
Re “Iran May Finally Be Ready to Talk,” March 14
Iran has shifted toward engagement with Washington, but U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton says, “I don’t think we have anything to say to the Iranians.” How can this be, given that President Bush thinks that is providing Iraqi insurgents with improved improvised explosive devices and, whether true or not, the Iranians are clearly positioned to be able to cause either harm or aid to our troops in Iraq? To refuse to talk to the Iranians is irrational and immoral -- but consistent with the foreign policy stupidity of this administration.
