Panel Urges Limits on Fishing Off Coast

A governor’s task force on Wednesday urged the state to ban ocean fishing on about 10% of the Central Coast and limit commercial fishing on an additional 10% of near-shore waters to protect fish and other overexploited sea life.
The Blue Ribbon Task Force voted 5 to 0 to forward its recommended network of marine reserves to state officials.
