Philadelphia 4, Atlanta 2 -- Antero Niittymaki made 25 saves and helped turn back eight of nine Thrasher power-play opportunities at Atlanta.

Pittsburgh 5, Montreal 4 -- Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 42 shots for the Penguins, including 18 in the second period, as the host Canadiens outshot Pittsburgh, 19-5, in the period and 46-23 overall.

Florida 4, Washington 3 -- Joe Nieuwendyk scored the only shootout goal to lift the Panthers at Washington and give Florida a 6-0 record against the Capitals this season.

Nashville 9, Calgary 4 -- Paul Kariya scored two power-play goals for the host Predators, who scored three power-play goals in nine tries while the Flames were four for nine with the man advantage.
