Maryland’s national player of the year candidate got the best of Baylor and its big star.

Crystal Langhorne matched a career high with 34 points and had 15 rebounds as No. 2-seeded Maryland eliminated Sophia Young and defending national champion Baylor from the NCAA tournament with an 82-63 win at Albuquerque.

Maryland (31-4) advanced to play Utah in Monday’s Albuquerque Regional final.

Marissa Coleman had 15 points and Kristi Toliver scored 12 for the Terrapins, who start a junior, two sophomores and two freshmen.

Young led Baylor (26-7) with 26 points on 11-for-25 shooting in her final college game.

Utah 57, Boston College 54 -- Scoring star Kim Smith had only seven points, but the fifth-seeded Utes (27-6) got contributions from others to defeat the eighth-seeded Eagles (21-10) at Albuquerque.

Joh-Teena Filipe matched her season high with 11 points for the Utes, and Shona Thorburn and Julie Larsen each scored 10. That was enough to make up for Smith’s three-for-13 shooting effort.

Boston College had three late chances to force overtime, but Brooke Queenan, who led the Eagles with 21 points, missed three three-pointers in the final 1:05.

Louisiana State 66, DePaul 56 -- Seimone Augustus scored 18 points, and the top-seeded Tigers (30-3) reached the San Antonio Regional final after pulling away from the Blue Demons (27-7).

Sylvia Fowles had 13 points and 19 rebounds as LSU reached the regional final for the fourth straight year. LSU will play Stanford on Monday night.

Augustus injured her left ankle on a drive to the basket with about 1:43 left. She later returned but was gimpy and grimacing, although she insisted it was only a cramp.
