A 40-year-old Orange County motorist has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in connection with an accident in November that killed two men.

Mark Paolella of Coto de Caza, who was charged last week, could face up to a year in jail on each count if convicted, said Jonathan Diamond, spokesman for the Los Angeles city attorney’s office. Killed in the accident were Keith Naylor, 21, and Tyler Love, 22, both of Malibu, who were riding together on a motorcycle.

Paolella was southbound on Pacific Coast Highway on Nov. 12 when he allegedly made an illegal U-turn near Sunset Boulevard and struck the motorcycle, said Det. Mike Dunn of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division. No one else was injured, and no alcohol or speeding was involved, Dunn said.
