TelePacific to Purchase Mpower for $204 Million

Los Angeles-based TelePacific Communications, a closely held telephone and Internet service provider, said it had agreed to buy Mpower Holding Corp. of Pittsford, N.Y., for about $204 million.
The acquisition will give TelePacific about 63,000 business and residential customers in California, Nevada and Illinois to add to its 15,000 business customers. The union will cut costs in Las Vegas and parts of California where the companies’ networks overlap, TelePacific said.
