The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Iraq:

Stephen R. Bixler, 20, of Suffield, Conn.; corporal, Marine Corps. Bixler was killed in combat May 4 while on foot patrol in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Edward G. Davis III, 31, of Antioch, Ill.; sergeant, Marine Corps. Davis was among three Marines killed April 28 when a roadside bomb detonated near their Humvee in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Christopher M. Eckhardt, 19, of Phoenix; private first class, Army. Eckhardt died May 3 of a noncombat-related cause in Taji, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Jose Gomez, 23, of Corona, N.Y.; sergeant, Army. Gomez was one of two soldiers killed April 28 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 10th Cavalry, 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Brandon M. Hardy, 25, of Cochranville, Pa.; corporal, Marine Corps. Hardy was among three Marines killed April 28 when a roadside bomb detonated near their Humvee in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Bryant A. Herlem, 37, of Copperas Cove, Texas; staff sergeant, Army. Herlem was one of two soldiers killed April 28 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 10th Cavalry, 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Brian S. Letendre, 27, of Woodbridge, Va.; captain, Marine Corps Reserve. Letendre was killed May 3 when a suicide car bomber attacked his observation post in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the Inspector and Instructor Staff, 1st Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve in Plainville, Conn.

Robbie G. Light, 21, of Kingsport, Tenn.; corporal, Army. Light was killed May 1 when a roadside bomb exploded near his Abrams tank in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 67th Armored Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Bobby Mendez, 38, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; first sergeant, Army. Mendez was killed April 27 when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Lea R. Mills, 21, of Brooksville, Fla.; sergeant, Marine Corps. Mills was among three Marines killed April 28 when a roadside bomb detonated near their Humvee in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Robert L. Moscillo, 21, of Salem, N.H.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Moscillo was killed May 1 when his Humvee struck a land mine in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Combat Engineer

Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Elisha R. Parker, 21, of Taberg, N.Y.; sergeant, Marine Corps. Parker was killed May 4 when a roadside bomb exploded near him in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Joseph E. Proctor, 38, of Indianapolis; sergeant, Army National Guard. Proctor was killed May 3 in a suicide car bombing near his observation post in Tammin, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 638th Battalion (Aviation), Army National Guard in Shelbyville, Ind.

Bryan L. Quinton, 24, of Sand Springs, Okla.; specialist, Army. Quinton was one of two soldiers killed May 4 when a roadside bomb exploded near their military vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 5th Engineer Battalion, 1st Engineer Brigade at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.

Gavin B. Reinke, 32, of Pueblo, Colo.; staff sergeant, Army. Reinke was one of two soldiers killed May 4 when a roadside bomb exploded near their military vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 5th Engineer Battalion, 1st Engineer Brigade at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.

Steve M. Sakoda, 29, of Hilo, Hawaii; sergeant, Army. Sakoda was killed April 29 when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Ft. Campbell, Ky.

Mark A. Wall, 27, of Alden, Iowa; staff sergeant, Army. Wall died of a heart attack April 27 in Mosul, northwest of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska.

Matthew A. Webber, 23, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; sergeant, Army National Guard. Webber died April 27 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio of injuries suffered Nov. 21, 2005, when he was severely burned in the explosion of a roadside bomb near his Humvee in Habbaniya, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment (Mechanized), Army National Guard in Saginaw, Mich.
