Chinese censors ponder ‘M:i:III’
Censors have asked for changes in the Tom Cruise thriller “Mission: Impossible III” before deciding whether to permit its showing in China, the government’s main news agency reported Thursday.
“We’ve put forward our recommendations for changes and are conferring with” the Chinese distributor, the Xinhua News Agency quoted an official of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television as saying.
The report didn’t say what the censors’ proposed changes were. But earlier news reports said their concerns focus on scenes shot in Shanghai, China’s biggest city and business capital. State media said censors wanted scenes of a car chase, a shootout and tattered underwear hanging from laundry lines shortened or removed.
