From Times Wire Reports

After months of delay, NASA launched a weather satellite this week that will allow forecasters to better pinpoint severe storms and investigate world climate change.

The GOES-N satellite took off about 3 p.m. PDT Wednesday on a Boeing Delta 4 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites transmit high-resolution images, infrared data, and temperature and moisture profiles of the atmosphere.
