“Sister Act: the Musical,” about a Philadelphia lounge singer who hides from her mobster boyfriend in a down on its luck convent, gives the 1992 movie a disco spin in its world premiere stage outing. Dawnn Lewis plays fugitive Deloris Van Cartier, and Elizabeth Ward Land is the convent’s scandalized mother superior. Peter Schneider directs; Alan Menken (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Little Shop of Horrors”) wrote the music, with lyrics by Glenn Slater. And the book comes courtesy of “Cheers” writers Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner.
