Caustic criticism

AS a working actor in musical theater, I find it remarkable that the creative team of the new musical “Sister Act,” particularly its director, Peter Schneider, would disparage an actress by name in front of a journalist [“It Takes More Than a Prayer,” Nov. 5]. Knowing that their opinions might appear in print, but understandably hungry for publicity, they clearly didn’t mind the damage they might do to her standing in the business. As for the director’s assertion that he “didn’t see the character, the acting” in Alli Mauzey’s work, all I need say in her defense is that you can witness plenty of “character” and “acting” in her skillful turn portraying five characters in the currently playing “The Musical of Musicals -- the Musical!” at the Colony.
