UCLA women win easily

Lindsey Pluimer had 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 23 UCLA to an 87-62 victory over visiting UC Santa Barbara on Sunday at Pauley Pavilion.

Pluimer went eight for 12 from the field and made six of seven free throws. Noelle Quinn had 13 points and six assists, Amanda Livingston had 12 points, and Chinyere Ibekwe scored 11 for the Bruins (1-0).

Jenna Green had 14 points for UC Santa Barbara (1-1).

UCLA led by two with less than five minutes to play in the first half but went on a 12-2 run, all off free throws, to take a 39-27 lead.

Quinn made a pair of baskets in the final seconds of the half to put the Bruins up 43-31.

UC Santa Barbara pulled to within 11 early in the second half, but UCLA used an 11-1 run to take a 21-point lead. The Gauchos got no closer than 19 the rest of the way.

Cal State Northridge 74, Lehigh 68 -- Jason Hill scored 13 points to lead the Matadors (2-1) over the Mountain Hawks (0-3) at the Basketball Travelers Classic in Eugene, Ore.

Thomas Shewmake had 12 points for Northridge. Calvin Chitwood scored 11.

Jose Olivero led Lehigh with 20 points.

The Matadors led 33-31 at the break and opened the second half with a 10-0 run to take a 43-31 advantage at the 16:41 mark.

Louisiana Monroe 76, UC Riverside 64 -- Lance Brasher scored 22 points and Tony Hopper had 15 points to lead the Warhawks (2-1) over the Highlanders (1-2) at the American Family BTI Cyclone Challenge in Ames, Iowa, for their second straight win.

Chris Johnson led UC Riverside with 16 points.

Fresno State 82, UC Irvine 51 -- Eddie Miller scored 23 points, including seven three-point baskets, as the Bulldogs (3-0) defeated the Anteaters (1-2) at the Basketball Travelers Classic in Fresno. The Bulldogs broke open the game with a three-point barrage in the second half.

Patrick Sanders scored 16 points and Darren Fells had 13 points and seven rebounds for UC Irvine.
