HQ gangs up on its own cops

Re “When gangs game the system,” Opinion, Nov. 10

Hurrah for Gary Ingemunson’s Op-Ed article about gangs’ use of intimidation by complaints. The lack of support by police administrators for those officers on the streets has caused a drop in morale and a feeling that they have two adversaries to contend with, the criminals and the brass at headquarters. There are many conscientious, hardworking officers, among them a member of my family, who want and deserve to know that their efforts will be backed up.

I’ve always considered gang members to be quite stupid because of their lifestyle -- shouting gang slogans while spraying bullets from cars. But evidently they found a way to get two dedicated and courageous cops out of their way, simply by generating enough complaints -- from gang members.
