Driver dies after striking sign, pole in library lot
A Huntington Beach man was killed when he rammed his car into a traffic sign and a utility pole in the Huntington Beach Central Library parking lot, police said Saturday.
John Ziemkiewicz, 22, was pronounced dead at UCI Medical Center in Orange shortly after the crash, which occurred about 10:20 p.m. Friday, said Police Lt. J.B. Hume.
For unknown reasons, Hume said, Ziemkiewicz’s1988 Mercury Topaz went airborne after he pulled into the entrance of the library at 7111 Talbert Ave. before striking the sign and pole.
