Ethics Panel Chief Gil Garcetti Is Fined
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A city panel approved $1,500 in fines against Ethics Commission President Gil Garcetti on Tuesday, finding that he violated city rules by contributing to the campaign of his son, Council President Eric Garcetti.
Because the commission enforces campaign laws, members are prohibited from contributing in city races.
“Considering he was the president of the Ethics Commission, ethics commissioners ought to know better,” said City Councilwoman Janice Hahn, head of the Board of Referred Powers, which levied the fines.
