Electronic voting sites are added

Early voting for the Nov. 7 election expanded to 17 electronic voting stations Wednesday throughout Los Angeles County.

Touchscreen voting stations will be available at 16 locations through Nov. 3. Early electronic voting began at the registrar-recorder/county clerk’s office in Norwalk on Oct. 10. Voting there will continue through election day.

Conny McCormack, registrar-recorder/county clerk, said electronic voting is popular.

More than 65,000 Los Angeles County voters used touchscreen equipment in the November 2004 election.

The visually impaired can use the electronic voting units with the help of audio headsets or large-size text. Electronic ballots are available in English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese.
