Ortiz hit his 32nd road home run, tying Babe Ruth’s AL record. Boston’s Wily Mo Pena misplayed three balls in right and Kevin Youkilis misplayed two in left.

Cleveland 11, at Texas 6: Grady Sizemore hit two home runs, including an inside-the-park homer for his major league-leading 90th extra-base hit, for the Indians.

Around the league: Royals Manager Buddy Bell, who had surgery Friday to remove a growth near his left tonsil, talked to interim Manager Billy Doran and the coaching staff by phone Sunday and could be released from a Scottsdale, Ariz., hospital today, the team said. Results from the biopsy of Bell’s growth likely will be known today or Tuesday.
