Appeals Court Reaffirms High School Exit Exam
A state appeals court Friday reaffirmed the legality of California’s High School Exit Exam, which students must pass to earn a diploma.
The three-judge panel upheld a San Francisco Superior Court judge’s rejection of allegations that a study of alternatives to the exam had not been conducted in a timely manner.
The ruling is the latest in a series of legal victories for state Supt. of Public Education Jack O’Connell, who has pushed strongly for the exam. For the first time last school year, students had to pass the English and math portions of the exam to graduate.
