Bruins offense not up to speed

Share

I turned on the UCLA-Washington game at the start of the second half and I was soon struck by two things.

First, it appeared the UCLA offensive game plan consisted entirely of plays that could gain only about two yards. Second, it looked as if TBS was experimenting with special effects during its broadcast. Somehow, it had the UCLA quarterback moving in slow motion, while every other player moved at full speed!

Now we know why UCLA wasn’t ranked. The Bruins aren’t any good.

Don’t blame Ben Olson. Don’t blame Rodney Van. None of the players should blame themselves. The problem with UCLA’s game against the Washington Huskies was that the Cable was out. Tom Cable. When UCLA hit the red zone, the play-calling resembled the deer staring into the headlights: “What do I do now?”

Does DeWayne Walker have an offense-minded twin brother?

This year, for the Washington Huskies, Sept. 23 was the day to watch. Santa Karl rescheduled Christmas.

I’ve been reading about all the problems people have been having getting into USC football games (student tickets, longtime season-ticket holders being shoved aside for major financial donors).

Funny, there has been no problem getting into the Rose Bowl for Bruins games.
