Timbaland makes music as he waits for Britney

Share

What you will be talking about: Britney’s savior. Music producer Timbaland is kind of the most important dude in music right now. He’s busted out of the hip-hop game in the last few years and started working with pop acts such as Justin Timberlake (whom he calls his best friend), Nelly Furtado and, maybe soon, Britney. He has publicly offered to take her far away from the evil paparazzi and help her make a comeback record. In the meantime, he’s putting out his second solo album, “Timbaland Presents Shock Value,” which includes cameos by the likes of Elton John and Jay-Z. (Tuesday)

What we’d like to talk about: “The Shield” returns. Want to start a fight? Yell this in a room full of “Sopranos” fans: The best show on television is coming back this month -- and it’s Season 6 of “The Shield,” FX’s Shakespearean saga of police corruption in Los Angeles. (See the Monitor on Page 22.) (Tuesday)

What we should all talk about: Dolly Parton. It’s always a good time to talk about Dolly -- her cheery ways, her platinum locks, those uber-long fingernails, her other assets.... This week sees the rerelease of three of her classic albums -- “Jolene,” “My Tennessee Mountain Home” and “Coat of Many Colors.” (Tuesday)

What we’ll be grumbling about: Jewish Atkins. Passover starts this week, and those of us keeping kosher for the eight days will be deprived of food made with any grains except matzo. Some people call it low carb -- we call it hell, but guilt compels us to do it anyway. Chag Sameach! (Monday)
