Bratton inspects cadets at high school academy
Police Chief William J. Bratton on Monday conducted an inspection of 150 cadets at the police academy at James Monroe High School, praising their dedication to a program that is preparing them for a possible career in law enforcement.
Since the magnet program was begun 11 years ago at Monroe, seven graduates have gone on to become Los Angeles Police Department officers.
Seventeen have applied for or become community police aides, a job that lets young people learn about the LAPD until they are old enough to be sworn officers.
