Broadcom-Qualcomm legal fight escalates

Broadcom Corp. of Irvine sued Qualcomm Inc., claiming that the San Diego-based company withheld information from groups that set industry standards, escalating a two-year legal fight between the mobile phone chipmakers.

The complaint, filed in Superior Court in Santa Ana, accuses Qualcomm of improperly exerting market dominance, concealing patents and reneging on licensing obligations.

Qualcomm officials had not seen the complaint and declined to comment.
