Yahoo Inc., as expected, added McClatchy Co. and four other U.S. publishers to an online advertising partnership, expanding the group to include 264 newspapers.
McClatchy, the Sacramento-based owner of the Miami Herald, joined the partnership with Media General Inc., publisher of Florida’s Tampa Tribune, Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Yahoo said. The group now includes publications in 44 states.
The defection of McClatchy to Yahoo’s ad-sharing group dealt a setback to Gannett Co. and Tribune Co., co-owners of the CareerBuilder.com job-listing website with McClatchy. Tribune also owns the Los Angeles Times.
