Probe focuses on crash of Blue Angel
Investigators looked through wreckage to determine what had caused a Navy Blue Angels jet to crash into a residential neighborhood, and the military identified the fallen pilot as Lt. Cmdr. Kevin J. Davis, 32, of Pittsfield, Mass., who was performing in one of his first air shows with the precision flying team.
Davis was in his second year with the Blue Angels. He had previously served as a narrator for their air shows and handled celebrity flights, officials said.
At Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, the site of Saturday’s show, a somber crowd watched as six jets flew overhead in the “missing man formation,” the traditional salute for a lost military aviator.
