U.S. environment activist is freed

Ecuador freed a U.S. environmentalist charged with violating the Andean nation’s sovereignty by participating in a police raid that seized two tons of shark fins.
Sean O’Hearn, the head of environmental lobby group Sea Shepherd, was freed after officials realized he had a valid visa.
Leftist President Rafael Correa, who had ordered the deportation, has been under fire from environmentalists since he issued a decree in July that allows fishermen to sell the fins of sharks that are caught accidentally.
