City’s ban on nudity takes effect in 30 days
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The City Council unanimously enacted an ordinance Monday banning public nudity, which takes effect in 30 days.
The ordinance, which bars going naked on public property -- or in view of it -- was first approved last month. City law requires a second vote.
The nudity law was prompted by a former resident who is a nudist. Despite complaints from neighbors, county prosecutors had problems pursuing indecent-exposure charges, which require proof that the nudity is prurient.
