* Seattle 10, at Baltimore 3: Raul Ibanez had two home runs and four runs batted in and the Mariners’ Jeff Weaver (3-10) earned his first win since June 25. Ibanez had gone 31 games and 116 at-bats without a home run. Weaver was winless in his last six starts. Jose Guillen added four hits for the Mariners, who have won seven of 10.

* Cleveland 2, at Chicago 1: Jake Westbrook (3-6) retired 23 of 24 batters in one stretch and Grady Sizemore hit a go-ahead two-run single in the fifth for the Indians. Westbrook won his second straight after going 12 starts without a win. He retired 12 in a row before Scott Podsednik’s fifth-inning single and then set down 11 another straight.

* at Detroit 9, Tampa Bay 6: Rookie Ryan Raburn had two RBIs and scored the go-ahead run in the three-run eighth for the Tigers. Detroit led, 6-1, after six innings, but Jonny Gomes tripled and scored in the seventh and hit his second career grand slam in the eighth to tie it for the Devil Rays.

* at Texas 8, Oakland 6: Acquired at the trade deadline, Jarrod Saltalamacchia drove in the tiebreaking run with a sixth-inning double and Kason Gabbard went six innings to earn his first win with the Rangers. Mark Ellis homered and had three hits for Oakland. Shannon Stewart also homered for the A’s.

* at Kansas City 5, Minnesota 1: Mark Teahen had four hits for his third straight multihit game and Brian Bannister (8-6) won his third straight decision for the Royals. Bannister yielded four doubles in seven innings, but pitched out of trouble in the second and third innings.

* New York 9, at Toronto 2: Joba Chamberlain struck out two in two innings of his major-league debut for the Yankees after being called up from triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre.

* at Angels 10, Boston 4: The Red Sox’s lead in the AL East was reduced to five games, their smallest since May 2.
