Rebels say they hold 12 soldiers
From Times Wire Reports
An obscure, mostly Arab Darfur rebel group said it had kidnapped 12 Sudanese soldiers and challenged the government to stop mobilizing militias to counter the 4-year-old revolt in the western part of the country.
The Democratic Popular Front Army’s secretary-general, Osama Mohammed Hassan, said it was “the first time we have captured government soldiers.”
A Sudanese army spokesman dismissed the report as a lie.
