From Times Wire Reports

Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, ousted in a 2006 coup, became a fugitive after he and his wife failed to appear for a corruption trial.

A Thai judge issued arrest warrants for Thaksin and his wife, Pojamarn, after they missed the first formal session of the trial, which involves a Bangkok real estate deal in 2003 when Thaksin was prime minister.

Thaksin has been living in Britain since his ouster, and his wife has been traveling in and out of Thailand. His lawyer said both are in London.
