Father, son pastors accused in church theft
A father and son are accused of stealing more than $1 million from the church where they worked as pastors.
Richard W. Cunningham, 74, and Philip L. Cunningham, 50, allegedly stole the money from the Calvary Baptist Yorba Linda Church over a five-year period ending April 2006, Orange County prosecutors say.
Prosecutors accuse them of also racking up unauthorized expenses on church-issued credit cards. The Cunninghams are free on their own recognizance and will be arraigned today. If convicted, they face up to six years in prison.
