Phil Spector production: An item published Aug. 14 in Calendar’s Quick Takes column about a new song produced by Phil Spector stated that “Phil Spector’s ongoing murder trial hasn’t stopped the fabled producer from returning to the career that made him famous” and that “Spector worked on weekends and at night following his court appearances connected to the 2003 shooting of actress Lana Clarkson.” Spector worked for about 15 hours on the track by singer Hargo, titled “Crying for John Lennon,” the majority of it before his trial began. Spector spent two hours recording Hargo’s vocal for the track on March 25 -- after jury selection for his trial began on March 19, but before opening arguments were delivered April 25.
