Board narrows its Expo line options

The board overseeing construction of the Exposition light-rail line has narrowed its options for reducing pedestrian traffic risks near Dorsey High School.

The Exposition Construction Authority decided Thursday to study building a pedestrian bridge over the tracks near Farmdale Avenue.

In doing so, the authority rejected five other safety options, including a $25-million overpass for the trains.

The authority is seeking state permission to build tracks through three dozen intersections stretching over 8.6 miles from downtown Los Angeles to Culver City. Much of the track runs at street level along Exposition Boulevard.

The authority is expected to make a final decision at its meeting Jan. 10, an official said.
