Political spending rule gets early OK

Share

The state’s political ethics watchdog moved Thursday to force politicians to publicly justify how meals, gifts and travel paid with campaign funds are tied to official business.

The five-member Fair Political Practices Commission voted unanimously to consider final adoption in February of a proposed new disclosure regulation.

The commission acted two months after The Times described tens of thousands of dollars in travel, meals and retail purchases from the campaign account of Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez (D-Los Angeles).
