Officer cleared in athlete’s shooting
The district attorney Friday cleared a Coronado police officer of any wrongdoing in the 2006 shooting of former pro football player Steve Foley.
Dist. Atty. Bonnie Dumanis, in a 13-page report, said Officer Aaron Mansker had reason to believe he was under attack by Foley and a female companion after an off-duty traffic stop.
Foley, who was shot in the knee, hand and thigh, later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of drunk driving and was put on five years’ probation.
