Re “ ‘Liberty’ ” and “ ‘Justice,’ ” editorials, Dec. 14

I found your twin editorials to be among your most important in years. What could be more important at this moment in American history, after these devastating years of the arrogant, incompetent and mendacious Bush regime and the cowering, cowardly Congress, than appealing to the presidential candidates of both parties to come forward and insist on restoring the rights and values that once guaranteed Americans the freedom to pursue their lives, politics and religion without government intrusion.
