Just lead the way, Timmy
I read the recent article about GPS Navigation systems with glee, as I have just been given the gift of a TomTom myself [“She’d Rather Be Intoning, ‘Home James,’ ” Jan. 18]. Being a Brit living in L.A., it is one of the most beneficial gifts I have ever received.
However, being a strong woman, there is no way I could take direction from the monotone female voice booming instructions at me, so I needed a male tone: Richard is the male American voice and Timothy is the English version in TomTom (one can also download celeb voices such as John Cleese if one so desires).
Timothy’s voice was far, far sexier than the option of Richard’s voice and that is the only reason why I chose the Brit over the American to guide me around this city -- and that Timothy (or Timmy as I lovingly call him) is now the main man in my life and one who will never let me down (ha, ha). In fact, I love going on a journey now just to get with Timothy ...
