Singer’s colleague

Re “Frankie Laine, 93; pop balladeer of the working man,” obituary, Feb. 7

The extensive obituary on Frankie Laine provides just a glimpse of the many accomplishments of this talented singer.

I was disappointed to see no mention of Carl Fischer, his collaborator on a number of hits and piano accompanist during Laine’s rise to fame. Fischer, a Native American, was a talented composer and arranger whose work included a symphony that appears to have been forgotten because of his premature death in 1954.

My favorite Laine-Fischer collaboration was “We’ll Be Together Again,” a prophetic title that reflects our loss.
