Who’s to blame for parking tickets

Re “Caped crusaders? That’s the ticket,” Opinion, Feb. 8

Sascha Rothschild’s sarcastic take on Los Angeles parking enforcement officers is a perfect example of Angelenos’ desire to avoid responsibility for their own mistakes. Even allowing for the occasional equipment miscue, a parking ticket is usually the fault of the person who parked.

My advice to drivers who get a parking ticket is to pay it and stop whining. If you think you have a beef, scream at the proper authorities, not the officer. And grow up.

Kudos to Rothchild for finding humor in parking tickets. On the sober side, there is a direct relationship between the greed of cities giving the tickets and the relentless efficiency of the meter readers.

Cities such as West Hollywood that rely on parking ticket revenue have a vested interest in making citizens law breakers. Can anyone explain why that isn’t illegal?
