Combustible material spill closes lanes on I-40
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A truck overturned on Interstate 40 on Wednesday, spilling 50 barrels of titanium shavings and prompting a temporary freeway closure, authorities said.
The spill occurred in the eastbound lanes about 7:30 a.m. California Highway Patrol officers initially closed the freeway in both directions before reopening the westbound lanes at 9 a.m.
Cleanup of the combustible material continued throughout the day. Caltrans officials expected to reopen the freeway in the evening.
