Schwarzenegger names staff member to PUC

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed one of his aides to the California Public Utilities Commission. He named Timothy Simon, his appointments secretary since January 2006, to the board, which regulates investor-owned utilities.
Simon, a 51-year-old Republican, was general counsel and chief compliance officer for Global Crown Capital, a San Francisco investment firm, before he joined the governor’s office. The nomination requires state Senate confirmation.
