Construction curbed for preservation study
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Temporary restrictions on most demolition and building activity in Echo Park won City Council approval Friday.
The 18-month moratorium protects the area -- bounded by Sunset Boulevard, the Hollywood Freeway, Bonnie Brae Street and Echo Park Avenue -- from some development while the city conducts a historic preservation study.
The study is part of the city’s effort to create a historic preservation overlay zone in the community.
