C’mon. The sound was just horrible
RICHARD CROMELIN’s review of the Flaming Lips-Gnarls Barkley show at USC’s Galen Center was far too kind [“This Crew Knows How to Throw a Party,” Jan. 2]. To say that the sound was “inconsistent” is a monumental understatement. The acoustics at the venue are the worst I have heard at any music venue in Los Angeles, perhaps anywhere.

NICE overall wrap-up of the Lips concert, but I think Cromelin was a little soft on the failings of the arena. The sound was terrible, especially for Gnarls Barkley, which sounded like I was standing outside an Escalade thumping down the street.
The lines for beer were ridiculous too. But the Lips, ah, the Lips.
