Alarcon opens lead in council race fundraising

Assemblyman Richard Alarcon has opened a lead in the fundraising for the March 6 election to fill the open 7th District seat on the City Council, according to campaign filings.
Alarcon (D-Panorama City) raised $94,144 through the end of last year. His main opponent, Monica Rodriguez, raised $44,874.
Felipe Fuentes, who dropped out of the race last month, had raised $57,350.
Fuentes will consult with officials about what to do with the money.
The 7th District is in the northeast San Fernando Valley.
