Businessman fined for campaign violation

A Poway businessman linked to disgraced U.S. Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham has been fined the maximum of $4,000 for concealing campaign contributions to a San Diego mayoral campaign.
The state Fair Political Practices Commission fined Brent Wilkes on Friday. The FPPC said Wilkes, owner of a data storage company, concealed $500 in contributions to the Ron Roberts for Mayor Committee in May 2000.
