Re “Apple pie and the Middle East,” Opinion, Jan. 15

Why does The Times continue to publish the same feel-good drivel that has kept Americans in the dark for decades about our disastrous policies in the Middle East? Any good that the United States does in the Middle East has been eclipsed by our continued support for Israel’s illegal oppression and dispossession of Palestinians and our own illegal war in Iraq. How can we ever hope to move the Middle East toward democratic ideals when we so wantonly violate international law and undermine justice in the region?
