L.A. County pick hired by foundation
The former top candidate to replace Los Angeles County’s retiring chief administrator has accepted a job with a Minneapolis foundation, officials said Monday.
Sandra Vargas, former chief administrator in Hennepin County, Minn., was named the president and chief executive of the philanthropic Minneapolis Foundation, effective April 1.
Vargas had been the front-runner among four finalists who interviewed with the Board of Supervisors this month to replace outgoing administrator David Janssen before she turned down the job last week. The remaining candidates are Wally Hill, deputy administrator of Hillsborough County, Fla.; Gilbert Ivey, chief administrator with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California; and L.A. County Treasurer and Tax Collector Mark Saladino.
