Veteran skier dies on the slopes

A 49-year-old skier who was a safety patrol volunteer died after apparently crashing into trees at Park City Mountain Resort, a spokeswoman said.

Brett Pendleton was unconscious when discovered near the Pay Day run. He was wearing a helmet, resort spokeswoman Krista Parry said.

“He was a very accomplished skier and ski racer,” she said. “He could have caught an edge. There were no witnesses.”
